Black Zetsu

Black Zetsu is one of the secondary antagonists of one of the most popular shonen battle manga and anime franchise Naruto. It is a monster created by Kaguya who set up so much of the events to happen in the series throughout many generations, causing wars between Kaguya's descendants.

For most of the series, it acted as an agent in the Akatsuki organization who would help in capturing the jinchuuriki. It acted as the right-hand to Obito Uchiha. When Madara was revived during the war, it acted his right-hand after betraying Obito until it betrayed Madara in order to revive Kaguya.

It was voiced by Nobuo Tobita and Kengo Kawanishi as a child in the anime in the Japanese version, and voiced by Travis Willingham and Todd Haberkorn as a child in the English version.

What Makes It a Scrappy?[]

While its role as the mastermind of all of Shinobi history makes it quite possibly the most important villain in the entire story, its character is barely explored beyond it being a jerkass who wants to free its mother which results in it coming off as a rather flat character even compared to relatively minor Akatsuki members like Hidan and Kakuzu.
It is a terrible twist villain, where it is revealed that it was responsible for all of shinobi history and that it manipulated Madara the whole time.
It being the one who manipulated Madara into turning evil is disliked by both Madara's fans for turning him into a mere pawn and by people who consider him to be Unintentionally Unsympathetic by removing much of his agency in turning evil.
There was no build up or hints that it was the ultimate mastermind, and the reveal came out of nowhere.
Its plan, in spite of taking a millennium to fulfill, was foiled in a matter of minutes by the heroes, making it more of a pathetic villain.
It has a very annoying and whiny personality, coming across as a petulant mama's boy.
