Benjamin Woodman, and by extension, his puppet, Trilo Quist, is a minor character in Ace Attorney: Justice For All.

He is a ventriloquist for The Berry Big Circus and the former rival of Max Galactica, the circus’s magician. After the Ringleader is murdered and Max is framed as the killer, Ben is called in as a witness.

What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]

  • His alter-ego, Trilo, has an extremely creepy attraction to Regina, a 16-year-old, often mentioning her body during tangents and Trilo admitting that he intended on tricking her into marrying him. While other characters like Max and Bat were interested in Regina, Trilo/Ben stands out in that they were closer to her age while they are nearly twice her age, being 31.
  • Its never clear if Benjamin is expressing his inner thoughts with Trillo, if he has a split personality he expresses with Trilo or if he is really into keeping up his ventriloquist performance even during serious scenarios. Notably Benjamin claims to not like Regina, unlike Trillo whom claims to love her.
  • He is pointless to the case. His only contribution was saying that he saw who he thought was the Ringleader at night, only for Moe to have the same story, but with more information.
  • He is a flat character whose main character trait is him and Trilo getting into arguments or Trilo insulting other characters.
  • Unlike other characters in the case, he doesn’t develop as a character or abandon his negative traits and remains the same throughout the story.

Trivia[]

  • While his attraction to Regina is seen as his most negative trait, this was removed in the anime adaptation. Despite this, he remains a Scrappy due to retaining his pointlessness to the case.
  • It is theorized that Ben does not actually have an attraction to Regina, as he openly claims that he doesn't like her much, but pretends that Trilo does for the sake of staying in character. If this was proven true, it could affect his status.
