Audrey Timmons is a supporting character in the 1998 film Godzilla, and a recurring character in Godzilla: The Series. She's a newsroom assistant that's trying her best to become a reporter and gets in the middle of the case of Godzilla.
She was played by Maria Pitillo in the movie, and voiced by Paget Brewster in the series.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- Her relationship with Niko ended because she chose to focus on her career rather that marrying him which can be understandable to a certain degree, even if a bit late, but the fact she apparently dissapeared from his life without explanation right after the proposal and only gives him the explanation many years later to try to gain sympathy from him after an even bigger screw up can get on the viewers nerves.
- She only decides to reconnect with him when she discovers he's in the investigation for Godzilla, and instead of apologizing, she simply suggests that some people can change, which is apparently enough for Niko.
- The first thing she does after reconnecting with Niko is stealing the top secret information and leaked it to the press, effectively betraying his trust once again, which ruins his career and only apologizes to him once his report is edited by his boss to take the credit.
- Related to that, it is very hard to sympathize with her attempts of becoming a reporter, and when Niko gets understandably angry at her when she is treating him so shitty to advance her career, it feels more like karma and way too idiotic to not see how her actions were gonna ruin his ex-boyfriend's life.
- This also causes the theories of Niko to no longer being taken seriously by the military, which almost causes an even bigger crisis.
- Audrey's cover story on the stolen tape is pretty cringeworthy, seeing how she's paraphrasing Humpty Dumpty of all things as her closing statement, it's very easy to see why no one is giving her a chance as a reporter.
- Despite all of that, she still gets together with Niko and becomes a reporter.
- Her version in the cartoon is considered slightly nicer, but still pretty bad, as she doesn't seem to have learned her lesson, and on top of it can come up as a clingy girlfriend towards Niko, and a selfish person all around.
- In the very first episode, she gets upset that Niko has not been paying attention to her for the last couple of days, and instead of simply discussing it, she gets in his laboratory to investigate him, and accidently causes the release of Godzilla Jr.
- Niko continues to put up with her for the whole series despite all the problems she causes, which leads to more than one viewer to question what he sees in her.
- Viewers in general found her relationship very forced and felt like Niko and Elsie had more chemistry and things in common to be a couple instead of Niko and Audrey.
- She's arguably the one element the show couldn't improve over the movie as she only slightly approved but not enough though.
Trivia[]
- For the character, Maria Pitillo won a Golden Razzie for Worst Supporting Actress in 1999.
