André Glacier, also known as Glaciator in his akumatized form, is a minor character in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. He is an ice cream vendor that wants to bring couples together through the "magic" of his ice cream.
What Makes Him A Scrappy?[]
- In his debut episode "Glaciator", he got akumatized because Marinette rejected his ice cream and said it wasn't magic. While he was meant to be sympathetic, he still tried to force Marinette to take his ice cream when she wasn't in the mood, which made hard for the viewers to sympathize with him.
- In his subsequent appearances, he obsesses with the relationships between Marinette and Adrien (and Ladybug and Cat Noir) to the point where he ends up getting upset when he sees them with the other’s superhero form because they’re not with the soulmate that he wants them to be with. While he can’t be blamed for not knowing their secret identities, his obsession with shaping their relationship based on his ideal romances comes off as creepy to most viewers as he is basically trying to ship two teenagers.
- In “Glaciator 2”, he is akumatized when he sees Marinette and Cat Noir seemingly dating, believing that Marinette should only date Adrien.
- In “Elation”, he gets akumatized after seeing Marinette and Cat Noir together again, blaming Marinette for denying him the relationships that he wanted to bring together. Once he becomes Glaciator again, he attacks Marinette’s bakery with her parents and best friends inside because of his grudge towards Marinette for what amounts to a petty reason.
- While he was meant to be a good judge of character who does what he thinks is best, he instead ended up coming off as a creep who forces his own ships onto the people he meets and gets upset when they don’t hook up with the partners he wants them to have, ending up more as a caricature of an obsessed shipper fan.
- It's eventually revealed that he is selling his ice cream illegally when Chloé calls him out for not having a permit. While the scene is meant to show Chloé in the wrong, viewers think he’s the one in the wrong since he should need the permit to sell his ice cream and feel like no reason is given for Chloé being in the wrong.
