Alfonzo Dolittle and Ferguson O'durguson are minor characters from the animated series Star vs. The Forces of Evil. They are the two best friends of Marco before Star's arrival to Earth.
They are voiced by Matt Chapman and Nate Torrence respectively.
What Makes Them Scrappies?[]
- They have been commonly mentioned to be a result of executive meddling by Daron Nefcy, the creator of the show. She never had any idea what to do with them and it shows.
- They mostly exist just to be stereotypical best friends for Marco and showing he wasn't a loner before Star's arrival and that's really it. Having little to no interesting characterization or development to make them stand out does not help this case.
- Some fans also question why Marco was even friends with them, considering every time they were showed on screen, they had little to no chemistry and very few things in common, the only time they seem to enjoy being together is when they are making prank calls in "Pixtopia".
- Another issue is that fans don't see the issue with Marco being friendless before meeting Star considering part of Marco's character development is to become more confident.
- Fans also found them annoying for how most of their quirks come from how unadjusted they are and how much a load they commonly are for Marco.
- Ferguson also has most of his humor come from being a casanova wannabe which quickly got old fast.
- Alfonzo in particular gets a lot of hate for having a rather annoying voice with a very undefined accent.
- They only have a major role in two episodes of the first season: "School Spirit" and "Pixtopia". In both of them they are mostly useless and come to a load to either Marco, Star or both. This is even lamp shaded in a later comic where Star mentions she stopped taking them in adventures because they commonly screw things up for them.
- They were mostly ditched from the show from the second season and onwards partly for their unpopularity and partly because the creator herself didn't want to use them anymore (and never did) with fan-favorite Janna taking the role as the token regular human among the main cast. They only have speaking roles in 2 more episodes, and both are simply to clarify what happen to them since the last time we saw them.
